Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. To ensure a peaceful and solemn atmosphere for the upcoming holy month of Ramadhan, the Jakarta Metro Jaya Regional Police commenced Pekat Jaya Operation 2026 on Wednesday (28/1/2026).
The operation is specifically designed to manage social issues, known locally as Penyakit Masyarakat, and street crimes that traditionally see a seasonal spike.
"The primary goal of Pekat Jaya Operation 2026 is to create a safe and conducive environment, allowing the public to perform their daily activities and Ramadhan worship with comfort and devotion," said Metro Jaya Police Chief Inspector General Asep Edi Suheri during the troop briefing, as quoted by antaranews.com
A total of 675 officers have been deployed to target high-risk disturbances, including street brawls, motor gang violence, thuggery, and the distribution of illegal alcohol and drugs.
Chief Asep said that while law enforcement will be firm and measured, the operation will prioritize professional conduct and respect for human rights. Beyond crackdowns, the police will increase neighborhood patrols and engage with religious and community leaders to perform early detection and prevent conflicts before they escalate.
