Inp.polri.go.id – Jakarta. Metro Jaya Regional Police determines a suspect of online pilgrimage scam initialed SJA. The suspect is the Director of PT Musafir Internasional Indonesia. The Head of Public Relations of Metro Jaya Regional Police, Senior Superintendent Ade Ary Syam says the suspect has been arrested and secured. In this case, PT Musafir Internasional Indonesia did not have the official permit to arrange the pilgrimage. However, they initially claimed, through their website, that they offer the service of furoda pilgrimage. “The facility of Furoda Pilgrimage from PT Musafir Internasional Indonesia are VIP Service with a Five Star Hotel Booking, registered from 2021 and guaranteed to depart on 2023, and costed IDR 125 million per person,” said Ade on Tuesday (3/26/2024). Furthermore, Ade reveals that the case was first discovered after a couple of husband and wife registered for the service and have paid a total fee of IDR 260 Million. However, on the day of their supposed pilgrimage, the company did not serve as it was supposed to. The suspect now was charged with Information and Electronic Transactions article, Consumer Protection article, and Money Laundering article. (ad/ay/pr/nm)
