Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Coordinating Minister of Maritime Affairs and Investment Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan announced on Sunday (21/4/2024) that he will form a team for the Jakarta-Surabaya high-speed train project after meeting with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi.

"For the Jakarta-Surabaya high-speed train, we agreed to form a team promptly," he said on his official Instagram as reported by antaranews.com.

This decision followed the success of the Jakarta-Bandung high-speed train, which had seen a peak of 21,422 passengers during Eid al-Fitr. 

Minister Luhut stressed the need to extend the project to Surabaya and agreed to establish a task force promptly. 

He also announced plans to enhance Kuala Tanjung Port  in North Sumatra for direct container shipments abroad, showcasing Indonesia's independence in trade. 

These steps aimed to bolster cooperation with China, spanning agriculture and maritime sectors. 

The initiatives were discussed during the 4th Meeting of the High-Level Dialogue and Cooperation Mechanism (HDCM) RI-RRT in Labuan Bajo, East Nusa Tenggara.
