Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. During a recent visit to Athens, Greece on Thursday (23/11/2023), Vice President Ma'ruf Amin, asserted the importance of ministers not neglecting their national duties while actively supporting their chosen candidates for the 2024 presidential election.
In his statement, Vice President Ma'ruf said: "I will continue to monitor and urge ministers to work as usual. National duties should not be overlooked because of election-related issues. Public service must not be compromised.
He highlighted the need for ministers aligned with presidential candidates to position themselves appropriately and follow the rules, antaranews.com reported.
"They should know when to support their candidates and when to focus on their duties. There are rules to be followed and compliance ensures that their performance is not compromised," the vice president added.
Vice President Ma'ruf highlighted concerns that the performance of ministers could be compromised, potentially affecting development goals. He urged ministers to balance their political commitments with their responsibilities to the nation.
President Joko Widodo had earlier signed Government Regulation No. 53 of 2023, which amends Government Regulation No. 32/2018 on procedures for resignation in the nomination of members of the DPR, DPD, DPRD, president and vice president, requests for leave in the nomination of president and vice president, and leave during the conduct of general election campaigns
