Inp.polri.go.id - Labuan Bajo. The Geological Agency has raised the alert level for Mount Lewotobi Laki-Laki in East Flores, East Nusa Tenggara, to the highest level (Level IV) following a significant rise in seismic activity and eruptions.
On Thursday (20/3/2025), the volcano emitted an ash column reaching 8,000 meters above the summit, according to antaranews.com.
Seismic records showed 117 volcanic earthquakes by 6 pm local time, along with continuous tremors indicating magma movement towards the surface.
Authorities have issued a strict exclusion zone of 7-8 kilometers around the volcano, warning of potential lava flows and directed blasts towards the northwest, northeast, and southwest. Residents are advised to wear masks against volcanic ash and remain alert for lahar floods during heavy rains.
