Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Indonesian Trucking Association (Aptrindo) staged protests on Thursday (20/3/2025) across major ports, including Tanjung Priok in Jakarta, Banten, Semarang in Central Java, and Surabaya in East Java, opposing the government’s decision to impose a 16-day transportation restriction during Eid from 24 March to 8 April 2025.
Aptrindo's Deputy Secretary-General Agus Pratiknyo criticized the policy as "reckless and extreme," arguing that a seven to ten-day restriction would be more reasonable, according to antaranews.com.
The extended ban, covering both toll and non-toll roads, leaves truck operators with no alternatives, leading to significant revenue losses.
Truckers also warned of broader economic disruptions, as factories typically resume operations gradually post-Eid.
“Many drivers will be left without income for over 16 days,” Agus emphasized, urging the government to reconsider the policy to balance public mobility with business sustainability.
