Inp.polri.go.id - Ogan Ilir. Ogan Ilir Sub-regional Police enhanced forest and land fire preparedness in Ogan Ilir Regency on Friday (7/8/2026) by deploying drones and inspecting water sources across high-risk peatland areas.
"Peatlands are difficult to reach by vehicle, so we utilize drones for aerial monitoring to detect potential hotspots earlier," said Ogan Ilir Police Chief Superintendent Rizka Aprianti.
During the joint patrol in North Indralaya District, officers monitored terrain inaccessible by land vehicles while checking retention basins, ponds, and rivers for emergency water supplies.
Local administrations officials and community fire care groups reaffirmed their synergy with law enforcement to prevent slash-and-burn practices.
South Sumatra Regional Police Head of Public Relations Senior Superintendent Nandang Mu’min Wijaya praised the proactive approach, emphasizing that early detection and cross-sector collaboration remain critical to preventing environmental disasters during the dry season.
