The Illegal Financial Activity Eradication Task Force (Satgas Pasti) of Financial Services Authority (OJK) has stopped 2,248 illegal online loans (pinjol) and 40 illegal investments between January 1 and December 31, 2023, confirmed Friderica Widyasari Dewi, Executive Head of Financial Service Business Actors' Behavior Supervision, Education, and Consumer Protection, on Tuesday (9/1/24). She added that Satgas Pasti has addressed 9,380 complaints about illegal entities, including 8,991 complaints linked to illegal pinjols and 388 complaints linked to illegal investments. Highlighting their sustained commitment, she underscored that in 2022 alone, Satgas Pasti blocked 106 illegal investments, 698 illegal pinjols, and 91 illegal pawnshops. In 2021, they blocked 98 illegal investments, 811 illegal pinjols, and 17 illegal pawnshops. Furthermore, throughout 2020, Satgas Pasti intervened by blocking 347 illegal investments, 1,026 illegal pinjols, and 75 illegal pawnshops. The previous year, they blocked 442 illegal investments, 1,493 illegal pinjols, and 68 illegal pawnshops. She concluded by cautioning the public against responding to online loan offers, emphasizing the potential harm of falling victim to illegal online loans that can adversely impact financial well-being.
