"We hope that the existing cooperation can continue to be strengthened so that monitoring the movement of foreigners and goods from neighboring countries can be carried out more effectively," said Maluku Regional Police Chief Inspector General Dadang Hartanto.

Dadang stated that Maluku's geographical location, which shares borders with several countries, makes cooperation between the police and Immigration a strategic step to maintain regional sovereignty and security. As reported by Antara on Wednesday (July 29, 2026).

According to him, this synergy is necessary to anticipate various threats, ranging from illegal entry of foreigners, smuggling of goods, transnational crimes, and transnational crime.

He added that the Maluku Regional Police will continue to facilitate coordination with Immigration officials so that any issues encountered in the field can be handled quickly and in accordance with legal provisions.

Meanwhile, Gindo Ginting, Head of the Maluku Regional Office of the Directorate General of Immigration, stated that his office is committed to strengthening cooperation with all elements of the Regional Leadership Coordination Forum (Forkopimda), particularly the Maluku Regional Police, to support immigration oversight throughout Maluku.

According to Gindo, his office is also preparing to strengthen oversight in the Tanimbar Islands Regency, which is the location for the development of the Masela Block's Abadi LNG National Strategic Project (PSN).

"We want to build strong synergy with the Maluku Regional Police in overseeing immigration duties throughout Maluku. The presence of Immigration personnel in the Tanimbar region is part of our efforts to support strategic investment activities in the Masela Block while ensuring that all foreigner activities comply with regulations," he said.

Gindo explained that the Immigration network has reached all 11 regencies/cities in Maluku Province, allowing information regarding the presence of foreigners or potential immigration violations to be promptly followed up through cross-agency coordination.

Head of Public Relations for the Maluku Regional Police, Senior Superintendent Rositah Umasugi stated that strengthening coordination between the Maluku Regional Police and the Maluku Regional Office of the Directorate General of Immigration is a crucial step in addressing security challenges in the archipelago and border regions.

"Synergy between the police and immigration is a crucial foundation for maintaining regional security, particularly in addressing the threat of transnational crimes such as smuggling, human trafficking, drug trafficking, and immigration violations," she said.
