inp.polri.go.id - East Java. Police have successfully arrested the Head of Geger Village, East Java, Budiman, regarding his alleged involvement in an assault that resulted in two of his denizens being injured.
Bangkalan Sub-regional Police Chief, Superintendent Hendro Sukmono, revealed that Budiman's arrest was made on Monday, September 22, 2025.
"The suspect has been detained since the 22nd," reported from Kompas on Wednesday (9/24/2025).
However, he did not provide a detailed explanation regarding Budiman's role in the incident, but emphasized that the legal process is still ongoing.
The assault involving Budiman occurred between two men, BS (55) and MDH (23), who are denizens of Geger Village. This incident began with a misunderstanding after MDH felt offended by the sound of a horn during a traffic jam.
According to information obtained, Budiman, who had just returned from a gathering, was stuck in traffic. While trying to greet a friend who was in front of his vehicle, the sound of the horn angered MDH, who challenged Budiman to a duel. However, Budiman chose to return home without responding to the challenge. Upon arriving home, Budiman recounted the incident to BS.
Feeling angry, BS sought out MDH with a weapon. Upon their meeting at the street, the assault incident ensued. As a result, BS suffered a slash wound to his left temple, while MDH suffered a wound to his left arm.
Following the incident, one of the victims was taken to the Geger Community Health Center, where several people carrying machetes were also seen arriving at the location. MDH's wife then reported BS to the Geger Sub-regional Police, while BS's family also reported MDH for the same case.
