inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Indonesian National Police (INP) Densus 88 Anti-Terror Team arrested seven suspects who threatened security for the visit of Pope Francis to Jakarta.
“Seven suspects did provocation in social media during the arrival of Pope Francis to Jakarta,” explains the spokesperson of INP Densus 88, Senior Superintendent Aswin Siregar on Friday (9/6/2024).
According to him, police first arrest a man with the initials of HFP in Panarangan, Central Bogor, West Java, on September 2nd. HFP did the documentation and studied the Istiqlal security protocol ahead of the Pope's visit to Jakarta.
“In addition, he planned to plant a man to review the Istiqlal security protocol,” explains Aswin.
The second suspect, LB, was arrested in East Pejaten, South Jakarta, on the same day. LB was tasked to provoke the people by sending bomb and explosion emoticons in Tempo Instagram comments who cover the story of Pope Visit.
Then, the third suspect DF was arrested in Bekasi on September 3rd, 2024. DF helps LB to provoke by saying he will attack the Pope in Jakarta.
“On September 3rd, FA was also arrested in Bekasi for saying he will burn the church during the Pope's visit to Jakarta,” continues Aswin.
Aswin continued that police arrest the fifth suspect, HS, in Bangka Belitung on September 4th, 2024. HS acts as provocator in the comment section of Indonesian Bishops' Conference's Komsos Youtube channel.
The sixth suspect, ER was arrested in Bekasi Regency on the same day as HS. ER, who used an account under the name of ABU MUSTAQIIM commented in a facebook page with a provocative narration of “...BBBOOOMMM…!!!” during the sermon of Pope Francis in Istiqlal Mosque.
"ER is also known to have pledged allegiance to ISIS in 2014," he explained.
Lastly, RS, was arrested in Pariaman, West Sumatra after provoking the public in TikTok. He was arrested on September 5th, 2024 at 16.12 p. He was saying that he will shoot the Pope.
