inp.polri.go.id – Lombok. Central Lombok Departmental Police successfully arrested a young man initialled FD (35), resident of Peringgerata village, for the suspicion of embezzling and fraud of hundreds of rental cars.

"The main perpetrator of the car rent and pawn fraud has been arrested in Banjarmasin, South Kalimantan. It has been a week since he ran away", Chief of Central Lombok Departmental Police, Police Grand Commissioner Attendant Hery Indra Cahyono said in Praya on Saturday (06/11/2021).

Besides arresting the perpetrator, Police also seized tens of cars from many types and brands. He said that Police would develop the case investigation to find other parties that may be involved.

"We seized 41 units of cars, consisted of 19 pickups and 22 private cars, and we also seized Rp20 million cash from the perpetrator", Central Lombok Departmental Police said during the press release.

In conducting his action, he continued, the perpetrator claimed from the development project of the Mandalika Circuit for the World Superbike and Lombok Airport Bypass Road. He also said to the victim that the rented car would be included in the Circuit and Airport Bypass Road projects.

"It is just his modus. In fact, the car was embezzled by him by pawning it on to other people. The victim is 100 people, either in Central Lombok or Mataram", he concluded.
