inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The National Police Headquarters will extend the Disaster Victim Identification (DVI) Operation to identify victims of the eruption of Mount Semeru, Lumajang Regency, East Java, until January 3, 2022. It should be noted that Operation DVI has not been closed, meaning that it will continue to be opened as long as there are still unidentified bodies, explained the Head of the National Police Public Relations Division, Kombes. Pol. During a press conference at the Criminal and Investigation Agency Lobby of the Police Headquarters, Thursday (12/23/2021). The Head of the General Information Division explained that the DVI Police Team had been dispatched to the location of the Mount Semeru eruption since December 6, 2021, carried out humanitarian operations and identified victims of the Mount Semeru eruption who were sent to the Haryoto Lumajang Hospital, East Java. "Following the existing order, the DVI Team Operation will continue to be extended until January 3, 2022," he explained further. He also mentioned that as of Thursday (12/23/2021), a total of 46 body bags consisting of 37 bodies and six body parts were received by the Haryoto Lumajang Hospital. Of the 46 bags, 45 bags have been inspected, 29 have been identified, and 16 bags have not been identified. In contrast, the other bag is still waiting for the inspection process. "For antemortem data received, there are 76 data. Then there are new family DNA samples from a total of 32 DNA samples received, as well as 19 postmortem DNA samples," he explained. Meanwhile, for bodies and evidence that has not been identified, Ramadhan said that they would be buried in special or aluminium coffins with unique markings so that if one day there is enough data, postmortem and "antemortem" data will be reconstructed. "If they can be identified, the bodies that have been buried can be excavated and moved to a place the family wants," he said further. Pol. Grand Commissioner Ramadhan added that to maximize the identification service for victims of the Mount Semeru eruption, the East Java Regional Police moved the Postmortem and Antemortem DVI Posts to the Bhayangkara Lumajang Hospital. "Of course, when the DNA test results are out, we will convey it to the media," he concluded. (my/bq/hy)
