The East Kotawaringin (Kotim) Sub-Regional Police rescued a toddler, estimated to be around 3 years old, who was found in the bushes on Jalan Mohammad Hatta Lingkar Utara, Kotim Regency, on Wednesday (1/11/2023) following reports from concerned residents. "Based on witness statements, the toddler was found after the witness heard the sound of crying when he passed by the area where the toddler was found," said Police Superintendent Sarpani, Chief of Kotim Sub-Regional Police. He went on to say that in order to ensure the toddler's well-being, they took the child to Baamang Health Centre for the medical examination. He added that the case is currently being investigated in cooperation with all relevant parties. The police chief asserted the importance of identifying the child's biological parents and understanding the reasons for leaving the toddler in the bushes. "We are currently looking into the situation. We hope that the truth will be revealed soon and we assure the care and health of the child," he concluded. (ar/ri/pr/nm)
