inp.polri.go.id - Tangerang. The Soekarno-Hatta (Soetta) Airport Sub-regional Police managed to thwart the departure of 71 members of the non-procedural hajj pilgrims to the Holy Land.

"These 71 people did not use a hajj visa, but rather a visit visa and a work visa," said Soetta Airport Sub-regional Police Chief, Senior Superintendent Ronald Sipayung in Tangerang, quoted by Antaranews on Wednesday (4/30/2025).

He added that the disclosure of the non-procedural case was the result of developments from the previous case, namely the discovery of 10 prospective non-procedural hajj pilgrims from Banjarmasin, South Kalimantan.

Currently, said Ronald, the 72 prospective illegal hajj pilgrims came from a number of regions, including from Java and Kalimantan.

"These prospective non-procedural hajj pilgrims came from Jakarta, Yogyakarta, East Java, Banten, and South Kalimantan. They were prevented from traveling on 15–28 April 2025," he explained.

He explained that the departure of the prospective hajj pilgrims was known to have been coordinated by the travel agency. However, most of them were going independently.

Based on the statements of the prospective non-procedural pilgrims, they were willing to spend money by paying IDR 100 million to IDR 250 million.

The temporary suspicion is that the departure of dozens of members of the hajj pilgrims was facilitated by certain parties who are currently still under investigation by the Soetta Airport Sub-regional Police.
