inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Indonesian Vice Foreign Minister Arrmanatha Nasir encouraged strengthening solidarity and trade among middle-income countries at the Middle-Income Countries Summit in Manila, Philippines, on Tuesday (29/4).
"In the midst of a global situation full of fragmentation, middle-income countries (MICs) must not be adrift, but must become pilots determining the direction of a more just, inclusive, and sustainable world," Arrmanatha said at the meeting, quoted by Antaranews on Wednesday (4/30/2025).
In his statement, Armantha highlighted the changing world situation, marked by increasingly intensive competition between major powers, increasing protectionism and trade wars, as well as the weakening and efforts of several parties to dissolve the multilateral system.
"If we fail to stop this decline, more than 100 middle-income countries, which cover 75 percent of the global population, will be trapped in the middle-income trap," he said.
In his closing statement, Arrmanatha also explained Indonesia's development achievements that have been able to survive amidst global dynamics.
These achievements were achieved through Indonesia's commitment to implementing in-depth structural reform policies, fiscal management, and integrating sustainable development principles (SDGs) into national policies.
