inp.polri.go.id – Jakarta. The National Police (Polri) stated that they had prepared several efforts in anticipating and reducing passenger density during the 2022 Eid al-Fitr homecoming at Merak Port. The Head of the Public Relations Division (Kadiv Humas) of Polri, Inspector General Dedi Prasetyo, said that there are three-phase in responding to the conditions at Merak Port, ranging from green to yellow to red situations. "The police have prepared and carried out security in case of accumulation of vehicles at Merak Harbor in these three situations," said Dedi in a written statement to reporters, Jakarta, Wednesday (27/4). Dedi explained that the green situation is a condition where the situation in Merak Port is going normally, with the flow of vehicles going smoothly to the dock and the queue of vehicles only until the entrance to the Merak Port area. In that situation, the police will take security measures by preparing personnel at the post to monitor and regulate the traffic. Then, on the outside of the port, personnel will manage the vehicles at the intersection of the bundar building. Then, there are also vaccination and rapid antigen letters checks, and carry out patrols throughout the port. Furthermore, the yellow situation is the condition where Merak Port is starting to get crowded while the number of ships and docks that are operated are still the same as usual. In this yellow situation, the queue of vehicles is full in the Merak Harbor area and the queue reaches Cikuasa Atas. "What we will do in that situation is we are going to add more personnel to help manage the situation. They will check the vaccination and rapid antigen letters. We will also establish a vehicle post in front near the fly-over and deploy personnel at the Soni Hotel that can help accommodate hundreds of vehicles. We will also prepare an evacuation route from the flyover to Hotel Pesona," said Dedi. Then, the red situation at Merak Port, which is fully congested, and the queues of vehicles have filled both the Merak Port area, the upper flyover, up to the Merak-Tangerang or West Cilegon toll roads. " What we will do in that situation is we are going to add more personnel to help manage the situation. They will check the vaccination and rapid antigen letters. Carrying out insulation activities at the fly-over for vehicles. Queues to each dock are controlled by internal security and personnel in the bundar building. We will also deploy our personnel at The West Cilegon toll road for selective insulation for local vehicles or the surrounding community," said Dedi. Meanwhile, the police are also collaborating with ASDP in prepping the Merak Port. In this case, ASDP will manage large-capacity vessels from April 22 to May 1, 2022. ASDP will try to increase the carrying capacity of the port by operating large vessels or adding operating vessels at pier 5 and managing loading and unloading to the side of the port that does not experience congestion. Then, ASDP will also extend the check-in time with the departure time and extend the ticket expiration time. Then, optimizing tollgate operations and adding a special tollgate for two-wheeled vehicles. If there is a surge in the arrival of motorbikes, they are directed evenly to each pier or directed to a specific pier.
