Smuggling and drug trafficking from the sea are considered very safe and best ways for them. This statement is in accordance with data released by National Narcotics Agency (BNN) in 2021, that around 90% of drug shipments/smuggling to Indonesia is carried out by sea. This seems to emphasize that the sea is the route for the drug smugglers. The Sunda Strait area is prone to drug smuggling because it is considered very strategic as the strait connects Sumatra and Java. Based on this phenomenon, the National Police (Polri) as law enforcers, took seriously the role in securing Indonesia's sea, because as an archipelagic country, marine security is one of the priorities of the Police. In revealing the International Cocaine syndicate, recently the Police did not act alone. Cooperating with the Navy and BNN, it was revealed that 179 kilograms of cocaine was smuggled last Sunday in the waters of the Sunda Strait. The success of the disclosure of cocaine smuggling is due to good coordination between the three institutions. For this reason, good communication and coordination will always be maintained to uncover international drug smuggling networks. So that Indonesia is far from the circulation of illicit drugs. Regarding the success of Polri in uncovering international drug networks with the TNI and BNN, the Head of the Public Relations Division (Kabag Penum) Polri, Commissioner Gatot Repli Handoko, S.I.K., appreciated for their hard work. He said that in order to be effective in handling drug cases, they should be working together. "Drugs are problem for us all. I think all elements must unite and work together to eradicate drug smuggling," he said when confirmed.
