Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta.  During his state visit to Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates (UAE) on Wednesday (17/7), President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo was honored with the highest civilian award, the Order of Zayed, from UAE President Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

According to a statement received early Thursday morning (18/7/2024), President bin Zayed Al Nahyan personally presented the award to President Jokowi during their bilateral meeting at Qasr Al Watan.

The award recognizes President Jokowi’s efforts to strengthen the close ties between the two nations and enhance bilateral cooperation throughout his tenure, as reported by antaranews.com.

The Order of Zayed is the UAE’s highest civilian honor, awarded to world leaders and heads of state. Past recipients include Xi Jinping of China, Narendra Modi of India, Vladimir Putin of Russia, and Indonesia's President-elect Prabowo Subianto.

President Jokowi expressed his gratitude to President bin Zayed Al Nahyan for the award, which symbolizes the special relationship between the two countries and bears the name of the late Sheikh Zayed, a leading figure known for his enduring humanitarian values.

In a separate ceremony, President bin Zayed Al Nahyan also awarded the Order of the Union to the Coordinating Minister for Maritime and Investment Affairs, Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan. This award was given in recognition of Minister Luhut’s sincere efforts in strengthening strategic relations between the UAE and Indonesia.
