President Jokowi Went To US to Attend Several Important Meetings

inp.polri.go.id – President Joko Widodo will go to Washington DC, United States (US), to attend a series of meetings on May 11-13, 2022. "Along with other ASEAN leaders, I will attend a series of meetings of the ASEAN-US Special Summit for two days," stated the President in a press statement regarding his departure to the United States, Tuesday (10/5/22). In his visit, President Joko Widodo will attend a meeting with the Congress, prominent CEOs of US, Vice US President Harris Kamala and America's Climate Change Team, and then attending ASEAN Leaders Summit with President Biden. President Jokowi said Indonesia is currently the coordinator of the ASEAN-US partnership of 2021-2024. He hopes that this summit will have a positive impact on regional stability. "Indonesia hopes that this special summit will result in cooperation that can contribute to peace, stability and prosperity in the region," he explained. In addition, the President conveyed that with the ASEAN Outlook on the Indo-Pacific, ASEAN is ready to cooperate with all ASEAN partners, including the United States. Jokowi said ASEAN is ready to develop concrete cooperation that is inclusive and mutually beneficial. "We have a responsibility to make the Indo-Pacific a peaceful, stable and prosperous region," he explained. President Jokowi and the delegation will return on May 13 and is scheduled to arrive in Indonesia on Sunday, May 15.
