Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. President Prabowo Subianto has approved five defense cooperation bills with India, Brazil, the United Arab Emirates, Cambodia, and France, into laws, formalizing strategic partnerships to bolster Indonesia’s defense capabilities.
The new laws, dated 28 October 2024, include Law No. 67 of 2024 (Indonesia-India Defense Cooperation), Law No. 68 (Indonesia-Brazil Defense Agreement), Law No. 69 (Memorandum of Understanding with the UAE), Law No. 70 (Indonesia-Cambodia Defense Cooperation), and Law No. 71 (Indonesia-France Defense Cooperation).
These laws were published on the State Secretariat’s website on Sunday (3/11/2024)
The House of Representatives (DPR) had earlier approved the defense cooperation bills in a plenary session in late September. The DPR expected that these partnerships will reinforce defense ties based on equality, mutual benefit, respect for sovereignty, and territorial integrity.
