Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. President Prabowo Subianto has signaled that Indonesia is prepared to withdraw from the Board of Peace (BoP), an international Gaza peace initiative initiated by U.S. President Donald Trump Jr., if the body fails to secure full independence for Palestine.
During a meeting with over 40 Muslim leaders and representatives from the Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI) at the Presidential Palace on Tuesday (3/2/2026), the President addressed skepticism regarding Indonesia's strategic involvement in the newly formed organization.
"If the BoP cannot effect change or if its policies do not align with our principles, we will first abstain, and if it remains unsuitable, we are ready to leave," the President reportedly told the gathering, as recounted by MUI Deputy Chairman Cholil Nafis as reported by antaranews.com.
Cholil raised his concerns that a "pseudo-peace" might perpetuate the occupation, emphasizing that Indonesian peacekeepers should not be put in a position where they hinder the Palestinian struggle for sovereignty. saying
Minister of Foreign Affairs Sugiono confirmed this stance, stating that the "trajectory" Indonesia seeks is immediate peace in Gaza followed by the absolute sovereignty of the Palestinian state.
