Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) has detected three tropical cyclone seeds, identified as 94W, 92S, and 98P, currently influencing atmospheric dynamics across the Indonesian archipelago.
These systems are creating wind slowdowns and convergence zones, significantly increasing the risk of heavy rainfall, lightning, and extreme weather in several provinces.
"The combination of these cyclone seeds and cyclonic circulation is boosting rain cloud growth," explained BMKG forecaster Yuyun Wulandari on Wednesday (4/2/2026), as quoted by antaranews.com.
94W is loocated in the Pacific Ocean north of Papua, moving northwest, 92S is in the Indian Ocean, southwest of Lampung, affecting Banten, and 98P over northern Australia, moving west and impacting regional air patterns.
While the probability of these seeds developing into full tropical cyclones within the next 24 hours remains low, they are already triggering intense weather.
Residents in Jakarta, West Java, Central Java, East Java, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT), and South Sulawesi are urged to brace for heavy to very heavy rainfall. BMKG advised the public to stay alert for potential floods and landslides.
