Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. President Prabowo Subianto has issued Government Regulation No. 8 of 2025, requiring exporters to deposit all foreign exchange earnings from natural resource exports in domestic banks for 12 months. 

“This measure is designed to maximize the benefits of our export earnings for national development,” he said during a press conference on Monday (17/2/2025), as quoted by antaranews.com

The measure aims to boost the impact of these funds on Indonesia’s development by ensuring they remain in the country, rather than being held abroad. The regulation applies to the mining sector, excluding oil and gas, which remain under Government Regulation No. 36 of 2023.

President Prabowo estimated that domestic deposits of these earnings could rise by up to $80 billion in 2025, potentially exceeding $100 billion if held for a full year. 

Exporters may use these funds for currency conversion, tax payments, dividend disbursements, procurement of essential goods, and loan repayments. Non-compliance will result in administrative sanctions, including suspension of export services.
