Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. State railway company PT Kereta Api Indonesia (PT KAI) Group recorded a significant milestone in 2025, transporting 442,111,779 passengers across its national network.
This figure represented an 8.8% increase from the 406 million users served in 2024, highlighting the growing reliance on rail transport for daily mobility in Indonesia's major metropolitan areas.
"KAI Group served 442,111,779 users, an increase compared to 406,024,854 users in 2024, or an additional 36,086,925 users," said Anne Purba, the Vice President of Corporate Communication at PT KAI, on Sunday (8/2/2026), as quoted by antaranews.com.
KAI Commuter remained the primary driver of this growth, accounting for over 400 million passengers, with the Jabodetabek line alone serving 349 million people. Significant gains were also noted in urban rail services, such as the Jabodebek (Greater Jakarta) LRT, which saw ridership jump to 28.8 million.
Airport rail links in Yogyakarta and Medan also reported sharp increases, reflecting a broader trend of productive-age citizens shifting toward scheduled public transportation to reach economic and education hubs.
