Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. President Prabowo Subianto has placed total defense as one of eight top priorities in the Draft State Budget (RAPBN) 2026, alongside food and energy security, education, healthcare, rural development, green economy, and investment acceleration.
“We will strengthen people’s defense to safeguard our sovereignty. The world is full of uncertainty, threats can come suddenly. Indonesia faces challenges in protecting its territory and resources. Strong defense is the foundation of sovereignty,” he said in his state address at the House of Representatives (DPR) Complex, Friday (15/8/2025).
The 2026 defense budget targets four key areas: modernization of primary weapon systems, strengthening of the Reserve Component (Komcad), empowerment of national defense industries, and welfare improvements for soldiers.
While emphasizing Indonesia’s preference for peace, President Prabowo warned that history shows nations without strong defense are often exploited, as reported by antaranews.com.
The RAPBN 2026 allocates funds for new battalions, military commands, cyber defense, and support for state defense firms like PT Pindad, PT PAL, and PT Dirgantara Indonesia.
