Inp.polri.go.id - Cilacap. The Directorate General of Corrections has transferred 41 high-risk inmates from Jakarta to five super-maximum security prisons on Nusakambangan Island, Central Java, on Monday morning (13/10/2025).
“From the Jakarta area, they were placed across five supermax facilities on Nusakambangan,” said Central Java Corrections Head Mardi Santoso, as quoted by antaranews.com.
The transfer, he added, followed strict operational procedures and comprehensive administrative checks.
The inmates were distributed among Lapas Karanganyar, Pasir Putih, Besi, Ngaseman, and Permisan prisons. The relocation aimed to maintain security and order within Jakarta’s overcrowded prisons while ensuring the safety of the inmates themselves.
Mardi emphasized that Nusakambangan’s correctional system is designed to promote behavioral reform among high-risk inmates through strict supervision and structured rehabilitation programs.
The transfer operation was conducted under tight security, jointly escorted by correctional officers and police personnel.
