Inp.polri.go.id - London. President Prabowo Subianto has committed to establishing ten international-standard universities in Indonesia specializing in medicine and STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics). 

Following a high-level roundtable with leaders from 24 elite UK institutions under Russel Group at Lancaster House on Tuesday, the President outlined a vision to revolutionize Indonesia's academic and healthcare sectors.

"The president’s plan is to build a dedicated zone for these universities, ensuring the highest standards of safety and quality to attract world-class faculty," Cabinet Secretary Lieutenant Colonel Teddy Indra Wijaya on Wednesday (21/1/2026), as cited by antaranews.com 

He confirmed the partnership includes lecturer exchanges and full government scholarships for top-performing Indonesian students. The initiative specifically targets Indonesia’s critical shortage of 140,000 doctors by modernizing medical education and utilizing English as the primary medium of instruction. 

With support from the Russell Group and the British Council, these campuses are expected to open their doors to the first cohort of students by early 2028 in a bid to boost Indonesia's global university rankings.
