Inp.polri.go.id - Kuala Lumpur. President Prabowo Subianto called on ASEAN nations to remain united amid a world he described as increasingly divided and imbalanced, during the retreat session of the 47th ASEAN Summit in Malaysia on Sunday (26/10/2025).
“The world is fragmented. Competition is intensifying, trust is fading, and the global order is losing balance. In such an environment, ASEAN must stay united. Unity and centrality are not mere slogans, without them, we risk being divided by greater powers,” he said in an official statement released Monday (27/10/2025).
He emphasized that ASEAN’s strength lies not in confrontation but in maintaining constructive and inclusive engagement. Prabowo highlighted the bloc’s tradition of dialogue, patience, and mutual respect as the key to overcoming past challenges.
Addressing maritime security, President Prabowo urged ASEAN to uphold the 1982 UNCLOS and finalize an effective Code of Conduct next year.
“If we stand divided, we lose credibility. United, we cannot be ignored,” he said, as quoted by antaranews.com
