Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Severe rain and strong winds battered the Indonesian capital of Jakarta on Sunday (26/10/2025), killing a 50-year-old man after a tree crashed onto his Toyota Lexus in Pondok Indah, South Jakarta, and causing a padel court roof to collapse in West Jakarta.
“The victim was a male aged around 50. The tree fell during intense rain and strong wind,” said Mohamad Yohan, the Head of the Jakarta Disaster Mitigation Agency’s (BPBD) Data and Information Center, as quoted by antaranews.com.
Emergency teams from BPBD, fire and rescue, and local authorities cleared the wreckage and evacuated the victim.
Hours later, the storm also tore off the roof of Anwa Racquet Club in Meruya, where six padel courts were damaged but no casualties were reported. Club owner Wawa Lukman said the incident was “a pure natural disaster,” adding that operations would remain closed pending police investigation.
Jakarta’s disaster agency urged residents to stay alert as heavy rains are expected to continue in the coming days.
