Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta.   President Prabowo Subianto’s absence from the G7 Summit in Canada is unrelated to geopolitical alignment, said Presidential Communication Office (PCO) Chief Hasan Nasbi on Monday (16/6/2025).

“The President has received numerous honorary invitations from different countries. Some of them overlap, and the locations are far apart—Canada, Russia, and Singapore. The government deeply appreciates all of these invitations,” he said at a press briefing, as reported by antaranews.com.

Hasan explained that invitations to attend Russia’s St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF) and an annual retreat with Singapore had been sent and confirmed months earlier, while the G7 invite only arrived in early June.

President Prabowo is scheduled to deliver a keynote speech at SPIEF and explore high-value bilateral deals during the Singapore visit. 

Hasan stressed that Indonesia’s foreign policy remains independent and non-aligned.

“We don’t see the world in black and white. Our involvement in groups like the OECD, BRICS, G20, and APEC is based on national interest,” he added.
