inp.polri.go.id - Lampung. The Lampung Regional Police are strengthening protection for prospective Indonesian migrant workers (PMI) by providing outreach on preventing human trafficking (TPPO) to ensure they understand legal, safe, and compliant job placement procedures.
Head of Public Relations for the Lampung Regional Police, Senior Superintendent Yuni Iswandari, stated that understanding the official departure mechanism is a crucial step to prevent prospective PMI from becoming victims of human trafficking and various forms of exploitation.
"We are here to ensure prospective PMI have a complete understanding of the legal departure procedures so that prospective Indonesian migrant workers understand the legal, procedural, and safe mechanisms for job placement abroad," Yuni said in South Lampung on Monday (10/5/2026).
The outreach was held by Sub-Directorate IV of Teenagers, Children and Women (Renakta), Directorate of General Criminal Investigation of the Lampung Regional Police at PT Jafa Indo Corpora (JIC) Lampung, Jatimulyo, South Lampung, and was attended by dozens of prospective PMI preparing to depart for work abroad.
During the activity, prospective migrant workers were provided with an understanding of their rights and obligations as migrant workers, including the importance of protecting women and being aware of various fraudulent schemes that could potentially lead to human trafficking.
Officers also reminded prospective migrant workers to ensure complete departure documents and follow all placement procedures through official channels. They also reminded them not to easily believe in unclear job offers, especially those promising quick departure without proper procedures.
Furthermore, prospective migrant workers were also equipped with the knowledge to recognize signs of illegal work placements that can result in losses, both safety and financial.
Through these preventive measures, the Lampung Regional Police hope that prospective migrant workers will have adequate knowledge before working abroad, so they can maintain their safety, understand their legal rights, and avoid exploitation and human trafficking.
