Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Indonesian Football Association (PSSI) officially terminated the contracts of Patrick Kluivert and his Dutch coaching staff following Indonesia’s failure to qualify for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
“PSSI and the National Team Coaching Staff have mutually agreed to end the cooperation ahead of schedule,” the official statement read Thursday (16/10/2025). “This decision considers internal dynamics and the strategic direction of national team development.”
Coach Kluivert, assisted by Alex Pastoor and Denny Landzaat, oversaw eight matches over 10 months, including six 2026 World Cup qualifiers and two FIFA Match Day games. Indonesia lost twice in the fourth-round qualifiers, falling 2-3 to Saudi Arabia and 0-1 to Iraq, leaving the Garuda at the bottom of Group B and out of World Cup contention.
The termination also affects Dutch coaches Gerald Vanenburg (U-23) and Frank van Kempen (U-20), who will no longer lead their respective teams. PSSI expressed appreciation for all coaching staff contributions and emphasized the move is part of a comprehensive evaluation of Indonesia’s football development program.
