inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Indonesian House of Representatives Speaker Puan Maharani emphasized the importance of just law enforcement regarding the death of Private Lucky Chepril Saputra Namo (23), who was allegedly abused by his seniors.
Puan requested that the entire legal process against the suspects be carried out objectively and transparently.
"All stages, from the investigation to the prosecution, which has now named 20 suspects, must be ensured to be carried out fairly and according to procedure," Puan said at the Parliament Complex, Senayan, Jakarta, Monday (8/11/2025).
Puan also requested that the perpetrators be given a deterrent sentence. "Whatever the cause and how the process will be carried out, the punishment must be as deterrent as possible," she stressed.
She also emphasized the importance of internal evaluation within the Indonesian National Military (TNI) to prevent a recurrence of violence between senior and junior soldiers.
"This kind of thing should certainly not happen again. The relationship between seniors and juniors should not be based on violence, but rather on mutual respect and appreciation," said Puan.
Previously, the Kupang Military Police Sub-Detachment IX/I questioned 20 soldiers as part of the investigation into Private Lucky's death. They were questioned as witnesses to clearly reveal the alleged abuse that led to the victim's death.
Deputy Chief of Information for the IX/Udayana Military Regional Command, Lieutenant Colonel Inf. Amir Syarifudin, stated that the soldiers are currently still acting as witnesses.
