inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The emergence of reports regarding Super Flu, a variant of influenza A H3N2 Subclade K, has recently attracted public attention. By the end of December 2025, dozens of cases had been identified in several regions of Indonesia, with the highest concentrations in East Java, South Kalimantan, and West Java.

On the other hand, the Head of the Jakarta Health Office, Ani Ruspitawati, confirmed that Jakarta has not yet recorded any cases of Super Flu. This statement was made on Monday (1/5/2026), even though a similar virus has been known to circulate in several provinces since the middle of last year.

According to her, Super Flu is classified as an Acute Respiratory Infection (ARI) caused by the influenza A H3N2 Subclade K virus, with the ability to spread relatively quickly. However, there have been no signs of a significant increase in disease severity.

As a precautionary measure, the Jakarta Provincial Government continues to strengthen its monitoring system through sentinel Influenza-Like Illness (ILI) and Severe Acute Respiratory Infection (SARI) testing at several community health centers (Puskesmas) and referral hospitals. This effort aims to detect early the emergence of acute respiratory infections (ARI) cases in the Jakarta area.
