Inp.polri.go.id - Pekanbaru. The Riau Regional Police's Criminal Investigation Directorate has arrested two men who posed as police officers while committing armed robbery. The suspects, who went viral on social media in June 2024, were arrested, on Jalan Arifin Ahmad, Pekanbaru.

"Following an investigation, we captured suspect BF (26) on Monday. He confessed to the robbery with accomplices DN, IE, AU, and ADI," said Senior Superintendent Asep Darmawan, the Riau Police Director of Criminal Investigation, on Wednesday (28/8/2024).

The case began with a report from a victim on 11 June 2024. At around 2 am, the victim was stopped by men pretending to be police officers, who accused him of issues with a woman. They drove the victim around Pekanbaru before releasing him behind the Ratu Mayang Garden Hotel and stealing his motorcycle.

The investigation has so far resulted in the arrest of BF and DN, while three other suspects remain at large, as reported by antaranews.com.

BF admitted to committing similar crimes eight times, while DN did so twice. The suspects face charges under Article 365 of the Criminal Code.
