inp.polri.go.id – Russia said its military in Ukraine was no longer confined to the Donbas industrial area on Wednesday (20/7). The statement came after Russian troops launched a deadly offensive in eastern and southern Ukraine. Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, in state media reports, said the Russian military would focus on covering a number of other areas. He also cited a possible deal with Ukraine that has been discussed in March 2022. "Our readiness to accept Ukraine's proposal based on geography in March 2022," said Sergey Lavrov as reported by Al Jazeera, Wednesday (20/7). "The geography is different now. It's not only about DNR (Donetsk People's Republic) and LNR (Luhansk People's Republic). But also Kherson region, Zaporizhzhia region and other regions.” Sergey Lavrov also stated "the process is continuous, consistent and persistent." Russia invaded Ukraine on February 24 with the aim of "demilitarization and denazification." However, Ukraine says it is just a pretext for a war of expansion. At that time, Russian President Vladimir Putin said he had no intention of occupying Ukraine. After launching the offensive, Russia failed to capture the capital Kyiv. On March 25, Russia's Defense Ministry said the first phase of Moscow's "special military operations" had been completed, and would focus on "the liberation of the Donbas." Nearly four months later, Luhansk was taken over. Luhanks is one of the two provinces that make up Donbask. Sergey Lavrov in his interview also repeated Russia's claim that the United States and Britain are interested in worsening the situation. The US and the UK are the two countries that provide military assistance to Ukraine. "They want to turn it into a real war and provoke clashes between Russia and European countries." Lavrov also accused the US of preventing Ukraine from engaging in talks that would allow a resolution to the conflict with Russia. "They (the US) kept Ukraine away from constructive measures and not only pumped up weapons but forced them to use them."
