Satgas TPPO Arrests 642 Suspects, Rescues Over 1000 Victims in 22-Day Operation

Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Task Force for Combating Human Trafficking Crimes (Satgas TPPO) of the Indonesian National Police (INP) has conducted a 22-day enforcement operation, spanning from June 5th to June 27th, 2023. During this period, a total of 623 individuals have been identified as suspects.

Brigadier General Ahmad Ramadhan, the Head of the Public Information Affairs Bureau at INP Public Relations Division, shared the figure during a press conference held in Jakarta on Tuesday (27/6/23), stating, "The number of suspects involved in these human trafficking cases has reached 642."

He further revealed that as of June 27, 2023, a total of 553 police reports have been filed concerning this matter.

In an additional revelation, he highlighted the remarkable rescue efforts, "A total of 1.826 individuals have been rescued from the TPPO."

Regarding the modus operandi employed by the suspects, the majority of the victims are Indonesian Migrant Workers (PMI) and individuals engage in commercial sex work, he said.

He proceeded to outline the four primary modus operandi, explaining, "These include 400 cases involving illegal migrant workers or domestic helpers, 9 cases involving crew members (ABK), 158 cases of commercial sex work (PSK), and 37 cases of child exploitation."
