Brigadier General Ahmad Ramadhan, the Head of Public Affairs Bureau at Public Relations Division of Indonesian National Police (INP), has provided assurance that the police will handle the report concerning the alleged religious blasphemy case filed by the Forum of Advocates for Pancasila (Forum Advokat Pembela Pancasila) against Panji Gumilang, the leader of Al-Zaytun Islamic Boarding School in Indramayu. This action was taken following coordination between INP and the Coordinating Ministry for Political, Legal, and Security Affairs (Kemenko Polhukam).
"We will promptly follow up on the report in coordination with the Ministry. This is an alleged case of blasphemy, once again involving Panji Gumilang, the caretaker of Al-Zaytun Islamic Boarding School in Indramayu," he stated as quoted from the Kompas TV on Monday (26/6/23).
"This report is related with a lecture at Al-Zaytun Islamic Boarding School, which was uploaded on YouTube, and the evidence provided to the investigators includes a screenshot of an online media article," he further explained.
He also stated that the police is still investigating the report, and statements will be requested from the complainant, witnesses, and experts. The expert witnesses will include representatives from the Ministry of Religious Affairs, the Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI), and individuals well-versed in the teachings of Islam.
"We will soon summon or request statements and clarifications, starting with the complainant, witnesses, and expert witnesses. We will thoroughly delve into the matter. Certainly, we will uphold the principles of accuracy and caution throughout this process," he concluded.
