Syamsul Huda, Head of the South Jakarta Fire and Rescue Agency, said that the search suspension was temporary while they assessed the situation to determine the next steps, according to antaranews.com.
The incident occurred near the Sumbangsih Bridge in Bangka Sub-District, Mampang Prapatan, South Jakarta, where Fais (15) and April (14) were swept away while playing with friends.
Despite the efforts of a joint SAR team, including military, police, and disaster management personnel, the children remained unlocated.
Earlier reports indicated that seven children were playing in the river when two were swept away by the current. Ramdan (16), who attempted a rescue, is currently receiving medical treatment due to breathing difficulties.
