Inp.polri.go.id - Serang. The Serang City Sub-regional Police fined Deputy Mayor Nur Agis Aulia for a traffic violation after he was seen riding a motorcycle with two children without helmets on the first day of school.
“We have issued a ticket,” said Serang City Police Head of Traffic Senior Inspector Tiwi Afrian on Monday (14/7/2025).
Officers visited Deputy Mayor Nur Agis’ office at the city administration complex to issue the citation.
He was charged under Articles 291 and 292 oftheTraffic Law, which mandate helmet use and prohibit carrying more than one passenger without a sidecar. Violations are punishable by up to one month in jail or a maximum fine of Rp 250,000.
The case gained public attention after images circulated online, prompting discussion about public officials setting an example.
Deputy Mayor Nur Agis admitted his mistake and urged the police to proceed with the penalty as part of his public responsibility.
