Inp.polri.go.id - Medan. Seven National Sports Week (PON) records were broken by the second day of the swimming competition at PON XXI Aceh-North Sumatra 2024.

On Sunday (15/9/2024), two records fell at Selayang Swimming Pool, Medan. East Java’s Izzy Dwifaiva Hefrisyanthi set a new 800-meter freestyle women’s record, clocking 8 minutes 59.41 seconds, breaking the previous record of 8 minutes 59.78 seconds set by Adinda Larasati at PON XX Papua 2021, according to antaranews.com.

Jakarta’s men’s team also shattered the 4x200-meter freestyle relay record with 7 minutes 34.78 seconds, bettering the previous PON mark of 7 minutes 38.31 seconds.

A day earlier, five more records were broken, including North Sumatra’s Felix Viktor Iberle setting a new 50-meter breaststroke men’s record, and Papua’s Farrel Armandio Tangkas retaining his 200-meter backstroke men’s title with another record-breaking performance.

“Years of training paid off, but I’m not satisfied yet. I want to aim for the SEA Games, Asian Games, and hopefully, the Olympics,” said Izzy.
