Inp.polri.go.id - Jayapura.  The security authorities arrested a member of the armed criminal group (KKB) involved in the recent shooting against a Wings Air plane in the vicinity of Kali Brasa, Dekai, Yahukimo Regency, Papua Mountains, a military official announced on Thursday (22/2/2024). Lieutenant Colonel Candra Kurniawan, the spokesperson for the XVII Cenderawasih Regional Military Command, said that the operation was initiated following a tip-off from local residents who spotted a man carrying a firearm. Acting upon this information, an investigation was launched by members of the Marine Corps' 7th Infantry Battalion.  After a gunfight, one KKB member was arrested and another one was shot to death, antaranews.com reported. The marine unit confiscated 74 rounds of ammunition of various calibers, two magazines, and other incriminating evidence from the scene. The body of the KKB member, along with the seized items, have been handed over to the police for further legal proceedings. The Wings Air flight, bearing registration number PK-WGT, was targeted by KKB members as it was preparing to land at Nop Goliat Dekai Airport on 17 February 2024. (mg/inp/pr/nm)
