Inp.polri.go.id - Tangerang.  The Soekarno-Hatta Airport Class I Health Office in Tangerang, Banten, enforced COVID-19 health protocols, including the use of masks, within the airport premises to prevent the spread of COVID-19 amid rising cases in ASEAN countries, including Singapore and Malaysia. Naning Nugrahini, the Head of the Port Health Office (at Soekarno-Hatta Airport in Tangerang, said that airport authorities have prepared health facilities, including checkpoints and clinics, to treat symptoms if a passenger is suspected of being infected with the contagious virus., antaranews.com reported. "In response to the current situation and in preparation for the upcoming holiday season, we are intensifying the monitoring of travellers, both domestic and international, entering the airport," she said. The airport authorities have coordinated with a team of doctors to conduct tracking and health tests on passengers.  The COVID-19 Control Task Force at Soekarno-Hatta Airport in Tangerang will analyze arriving and departing passengers to ensure compliance with health protocols. "If it advises close contact tracking on the plane, passengers will be recommended for further medical care," Naning added. As of 6 December, the Ministry of Health reported an increase in daily COVID-19 cases from 35 to 40, with 60-131 patients being treated in hospitals. The current hospital occupancy rate is 0.06 percent and the daily death rate ranges from 0 to 3 cases. The increase in cases is mainly attributed to the Omicron XBB 1.5 subvariant, which has also caused waves of COVID-19 infections in Europe and the United States. Despite the increase, the number of reported cases remains significantly lower than at the peak of the pandemic, when between 50,000 and 400,000 cases were reported each week. (mg/inp/pr/nm)
