Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Directorate General of Taxes clarified on Wednesday (22/4/2026) that the plan to implement Value Added Tax (VAT) on toll road services is still in the planning phase and has not yet been enacted.
The proposal was included in a strategic document outlining tax policy directions for the 2025–2029 period.
“Regarding the collection of VAT on the delivery of toll road services, this is still in the policy planning stage and is not yet an applicable regulation,” said Inge Diana Rismawanti, the Director of Extension, Services, and Public Relations, as reported by antaranews.com.
She said that any formalization of the tax would undergo a comprehensive review, including cross-ministry coordination and an assessment of its impact on public purchasing power.
Minister of Finance Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa said that he has instructed fiscal officials to conduct deep analytical studies before any final decision is made to ensure fiscal sustainability and legal certainty.
