inp.polri.go.id - The National Police is still collecting various evidences related to alleged criminal acts in cases of atypical progressive acute kidney failure (GGAPA), because the adequacy of the evidence is needed to develop the status of the case to the identification stage. "Currently, it is still an investigation by collecting evidence and other requirements needed by investigators for analysis," explained the Head of the Public Relations Division of the National Police, Inspector General Dedi Prasetyo, reported from CNNIndonesia.com, Friday (28/10/22). The Two-Star General emphasized that the joint National Police team is still coordinating intensively with the Ministry of Health and BPOM. The coordination was to discuss the existence of criminal indications against two pharmaceutical companies that used ethylene glycol (EG) and diethylene glycol (DEG) in their syrup drug products. "That's one of the discussions that we have talked about yesterday. But we still can’t announce it yet to the public because we are still waiting for further information," he explained further. The National Police also mobilized four directorates from the Criminal Investigation Unit of the National Police to investigate criminal allegations. The team was led by the Directorate of Certain Crimes and also consists of Drugs Investigation Directorate, Special Criminal Investigation Directorate, and General Criminal Investigation Directorate. The Director of Certain Crimes, Brigadier General Pipit Rismanto, explained that his party is still investigating the potential criminal allegations of two pharmaceutical companies in this case. The One Star General has not yet explained what pharmaceutical company is being investigated. However, both were investigated regarding the use of very high concentrations of EG and DEG in the syrup drug product.
