Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The management of Taman Mini Indonesia Indah (TMII), a renowned tourist destination, is taking a firm stand against events, including music concerts, that involve political and SARA (Ethnic, Religious, Racial, Societal) elements in the lead-up to the 2024 Elections. SARA, an acronym encompassing issues related to ethnicity, religion, race, and societal groups, is a term commonly used in Indonesia. "At TMII, all events must steer clear of political and SARA elements. We have set this as our boundary, and it's non-negotiable. This applies especially to concerts; they must adhere to these principles," said Claudia Ingkiriwang, the Chief Executive Officer of TMII, during a press conference on Friday (12/1/2024). Her statement was prompted by the involvement of musician Charly Van Houten, who is concurrently running as a legislative candidate in the upcoming 2024 Elections. He was slated to perform in a music concert at TMII, as reported by antaranews.com. "If any political campaigning is detected, we will shut it down immediately. We have communicated that this is strictly for neutral purposes, aiming to foster a relaxed atmosphere. We steer clear of anything with political and SARA implications. TMII is dedicated to cultural learning, arts, and more, and this has been our stance from the very beginning," said Claudia. Even with the elections concluded, Claudia emphasized that TMII will persist in prohibiting events featuring political and SARA elements. "Public events at TMII must remain free from politics, SARA, or anything that could potentially disrupt the harmony. This rule remains in force," she asserted. (mg/inp/pr/nm)
