Inp.polri.go.id - Jayapura.  Indonesian security forces on Thursday (02/10/2025) evacuated five bodies of illegal gold miners killed in a separatist attack by the Armed Criminal Group (KKB) in remote areas of Yahukimo Regency. Papua Mountains. 

The latest operation brought the confirmed death toll to seven, with five survivors rescued so far.

“There is one miner, Yohanes Bouk, who was found alive during the evacuation,” Yahukimo Sub-regional Police Chief Superintendent Zeth Zalino said, as reported by antaranews.com.

The joint military-police team, comprising personnel from Yahukimo Police, the Damai Cartenz Task Force, Mobile Brigade (Brimob), and Yahukimo Military Command, conducted the recovery operation at Kali Ahom and Kali Ei. 

The bodies were transported to RSUD Dekai Regional Hospital for forensic identification. Authorities confirmed that all rescued miners are receiving medical assistance and that the operation continues to secure the area.
