inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Jakarta Regional Metropolitan Police have seized dozens of sharp weapons and hundreds of glass bottles with fuses suspected of being prepared to make Molotov cocktails ahead of a demonstration at the House of Representatives (DPR/MPR) complex in Jakarta.

In a press conference at the Jakarta Regional Metropolitan Police Headquarters on Thursday (8/27/2026), the Head of Public Relations of the Jakarta Regional Metropolitan Police, Senior Superintendent Budi Hermanto, stated that the seized evidence consisted of 39 sharp weapons, 201 glass bottles with fuses, and several other items potentially used to disrupt security during the demonstration.

"The evidence before us includes sharp weapons, airsoft guns, drugs, communication devices, materials and objects prepared to make Molotov cocktails, including seven jerry cans of gasoline and 201 glass bottles with fuses," said Budi.

These items were recovered through a series of preventive measures taken by the Directorate of General Criminal Investigation and the Cyber Directorate of the Jakarta Regional Metropolitan Police.

Budi emphasized that carrying sharp weapons or other dangerous objects during public expression activities is prohibited.

This provision refers to Law Number 9 of 1998 concerning Freedom of Expression in Public.

According to Budi, security measures are being implemented to ensure that the public can continue to express their aspirations safely and orderly.

"We all want no groups to try to participate in the demonstration by bringing in items that are in front of us," he said.

The Director of General Criminal Investigation at the Jakarta Regional Metropolitan Police, Senior Superintendent Iman Imanuddin, stated that security measures and the confiscation of evidence are part of an early prevention measure or preventive strike.

These measures are being taken to prevent potential violence, fires, and disturbances to public order and security during the demonstration activities.
