West Jakarta Metropolitan Sub-regional Police have arrested 20 men involving the circulation of 224 kilograms of narcotics and 11,356 grains of ecstasy from an international network in Malaysia. The suspects were arrested in Central Jakarta,  West Jakarta,  East Jakarta, Deli Serdang, North Sumatra, Riau, Banten and West Java following a joint investigation involving the Narcotics, Psychotropic and Dangerous Drugs Investigation Unit  of the West Jakarta Police, the Indonesian National Police's Criminal Investigation Agency  and the Riau  RegionalPolice's Narcotics Directorate from September to October 2023. "It involves a total of 11 crime scenes with 20 suspects that we uncovered from the international (drug) network of Malaysia, Aceh, Riau, Jambi, Java Island," said West Jakarta Police Chief Senior Superintendent M. Syahduddi on Friday (3/11/2023). The suspects are subject Law of the Republic of Indonesia No. 35 of 2009 on narcotics,  which carries death penalty, life imprisonment or a minimum of six years and a maximum of 20 years imprisonment and a minimum fine of Rp1 billion and a maximum fine of Rp10 billion.
